Justin Parizek

Team: Idaho Steelheads (ECHL)

Hometown: Lakeville, MN

Position: RW

Birth Year: 1992

Height: 6’1

Weight: 200 lbs

Chosen Attribute: Integrity

Why is this important to you?

All four of these attributes important to have. If I had to pick one it would be integrity. Integrity means being totally honest and truthful in every part of your life. Integrity means telling the truth even if the truth is ugly.

Better to be honest than to mislead others, because then you are probably misleading yourself, too. You have to be true to the very best that is in you. If you are always honest and true to yourself you cannot be fake to anyone else.

I have always tried to live with integrity because I understand how important it is in life.

Have you been involved with FCA or FCA Hockey in the past? What has been your experience with us? How has FCA Hockey impacted you?

Yes, I have been involved with FCA hockey for a couple years. I have helped out with summer camps, attended Warrior Fellowship twice, and I have spoke at multiple events about my testimony. Also, I have helped lead the college huddle calls and am apart of the pro huddle calls.

FCA Hockey has helped me so much with my walk with Christ. Getting to know Gary and Rick over the past couple years has been such a blessing. They both have such a passion for Christ and I have learned so much from both of them. I honestly couldn’t ask for two better mentors in my life.

What is your favorite scripture verse? Why is this important to you?

Philippians 4:13 - I can do all this through Christ who strengthens me.

This is a verse that most athletes frequently misunderstand. Paul is actually talking about contentment, not achievement. Rather than envisioning all that I can accomplish, I like to be focused on my hearts response to my circumstances, good or bad. This verse reminds me to be content with the ups and downs of life. I can express gratitude no matter the outcome because of the strength I possess as a follower of Christ.

How did you hear about FCA Hockey?

The first time I heard about FCA hockey was when Rick and Gary came to Omaha for the 50 state tour. I ended up volunteering and helping with the on ice training.

What else should we know about you (future goals in hockey, family members, what church do you go to, favorite stuff outside of hockey, etc.)

My goal with hockey is to play a game in the NHL!

My sister McKenzie currently lives in Chicago. She just started a new job with Grub-hub!

My girlfriend, Chelsea Laden attends optometry school at Illinois College of Optometry. She also played hockey in the NWHL and at Quinnipiac.
