Chosen Attribute: Teamwork

Why is this important to you?

Throughout my years on the ice and in the field I believe the most important asset an athlete can bring to the table is to be able to work with a team and work for a team. You can have highly skilled players that don't work together and be beat any given day to a team that buys into an "all in" type of team structure.

Through working together you gain trust and confidence in each other and that is when your team will really start to take off. Building relationships that thrive off each other and creating a sense of belonging generally makes guys want to work hard for each other day in and day out. Being a good teammate is one way to set a great example to other team members and it can spread to all the players of the team very easily.

Have you been involved with FCA or FCA Hockey in the past? What has been your experience with us?

I got to know Rick two summers ago while my brothers were skating in an FCA hockey camp and we started visiting and he has been a great connection for me as a player, but also an awesome guy to be around. Last summer I helped counsel a group of kids at an FCA hockey camp in Alexandria, MN and I have also been a part of Rick's player advisory calls.

There has been many great people that I have met through FCA and I would imagine there will be many more to come.

What is your favorite scripture verse? Why is it important to you?

1 Corinthians 9: 24-25 “24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. 25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. ”

I have always been a competitor so at first these verses stood out to me because it speaks of a race, but as time passed on I realized that these verses were about our lives. We can RUN our lives to get the eternal prize of heaven which Jesus died on the cross for. The crown we will receive will last forever, not some old medals and a couple of trophies. We all need to live our lives in order to receive the eternal prize of heaven.

How did you hear about FCA Hockey?

What else should we know about you (future goals in hockey, family members, what church do you go to, favorite stuff outside of hockey, etc.)

Next year I plan on playing junior hockey with the location still up in the air. It's something that I have been working towards for a while so I am really looking forward to it. I have three brothers and four sisters whom I all love.

My dad is a pastor and my mom takes care of all of us which is a full time job in itself! I attend church at Zion-Sarpsborg which is in the Dalton Free Lutheran parish which is a parish of three churches that work closely with each other. Outside of hockey I love(d) playing football, and really enjoy activities like hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, dirt biking and I can't forget the fact that I like my job working on a farm.
