Chosen Attribute:   Integrity

Why is this important to you?

I want to honor God in everything I say and do. Being a person with good integrity can only glorify God and I try to live this way on and off the ice.

Favorite Scripture verse:

Philippians 4:13 - I can do all things through Christ Who gives me strength.

This verse was my dad’s favorite verse and he shared it with my brothers and I often. He wanted us to rely on God to help us to do everything. It gives me confidence knowing that He will be with me and it is only through Him that I am able to do anything well.

What else should we know about you?

I would love to play Division 1 hockey when I get to college. I have two brothers, named Brock and Brett. We grew up together playing hockey, baseball, soccer, tennis, golf, ping-pong, wakeboarding, waterskiing, and any other game you care to mention. We all learned to skate and play hockey on the pond outside of our back door. My dad coached our teams (any sport) throughout the years. Unfortunately, he passed away a little over a year ago. He was an awesome dad and he prayed with each of us to receive Christ as our Savior. He raised us to love the Lord and to love and enjoy all sports. He had helped coach tennis at the Decorah, Iowa FCA camp during the last few years of his life and our family still goes to Decorah each summer. Brett, my oldest brother, plays tennis at Bethel University in St. Paul and is in the Nursing program there. Brock is only a year older than me and after a severe break in his leg he continues to play tennis, but not hockey. My mom has worked as a Children Ministry Director at Lakes Free Church for the last twelve years and recently started teaching half time in the public school. She has home-schooled us for the last fourteen years. As part of our school, we have a service group that consistently tries to serve others doing things such as cleaning the church, yard work for the elderly, packing food at Feed My Starving Children, and serving food at the Union Gospel Mission to name a few. We hosted an FCA Bible study at our house last year and had many kids wanting to join. We hope to continue that study this year, as soon as our leader is available. Basically, I love hanging out with my friends and my brothers. We all really look forward to the Minnesota State High School Hockey Tournament and I am very hopeful that our hockey team will make it to the state tourney this year.

Blake is an outstanding captain and leader on our hockey team, on and off the ice. Through his Sophomore season he has already amassed 74 points and is on pace to break the all-time scoring record at Chisago Lakes High School. He was the leading scorer for our team at the Minnesota State High School Hockey Tournament, was awarded all - conference honors, team most valuable player, and the coaches award for the most dedicated player. He was selected to the Reebok High Performance 16 and 17 teams the past two years.
Don't let his size fool you, Blake rarely loses a battle for the puck. He is shifted and very elusive, and has a deadly accurate shot. And he's growing.
Keep your eye on this kid. He's a player!
