Why is this important to you?
Growing up in a strong christian family has taught me more lessons than I can share. But all of them have one thing in common with one another, serving the Lord through everything I do. No matter what I'm doing I will serve the Lord.
Hockey is a big part of my life. And sometimes my mind can drift away from what is most important in my life. I become too focused on myself and how I can play my best each game. Sometimes I don't see that the answer is right in front of me. God is the one I need to serve and to never lose focus on through everything I do.
As I continue to grow and mature as a hockey player and a young man, playing with the Lord has made me understand that I'm not a “hockey player who happens to be a christian” but rather, a “christian who happens to be a hockey player”. Hockey is my mission to spread the work of God through my abilities and playing and living under his name. I need to glorify him in all that I can do on the ice.
Playing hockey through Jesus will not just make me a stronger athlete but a better person, knowing that Jesus gives me strength through everything I do. Waking up everyday and living each one by serving him, will make me stronger both mentally and physically.
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the lord and not for men.” -Colossians 3:23
Have you been involved with FCA or FCA Hockey in the past? What has been your experience with us?
I have been attending FCA groups at school since 6th grade now, but I have just gotten involved with FCA hockey last fall through Rick Randazzo. I’ve learned so much through their advisory with me and I look forward to every call I have with them.
I can use what they teach me to develop as a player and person. I look to attend some of their camps and tournaments they participate in and look forward to having a great experience with FCA hockey.
What is your favorite scripture verse? Why is it important to you?
I have many favorite verses depending on what I may be going through at the time or how I feel. But overall this is a verse that has always stood out to me:
“Let not the wise man boast of their wisdom, or the strong boast of their strength, or the rich boast of their riches, but let the one who boast, boast about this; that they have the understanding to know me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight.” -Jeremiah 9:23-24
This verse shows me to always stay humble through all my actions and to never show that I am greater. But what this verse does tell me, is not to be humble about the Lord and to spread his word through kindness, justice, and righteousness.
How did you hear about FCA Hockey?
Through Rick Randazzo.
What else should we know about you (future goals in hockey, family members, what church do you go to, favorite stuff outside of hockey, etc.)
My main goal in hockey is to play at the Division 1 level. My family supports me through all my hockey events. I have 2 brothers, Blake (18) and Carter (13). Blake is a cross country skier and Carter plays hockey and baseball.
Every winter, since I was 5, my dad has built a rink in our backyard. I have many memories skating with my friends and team out on the rink. Skating in the backyard has been a big part of my hockey life. It's a place where I can take everything off my mind and play the game I love. Outside of hockey, I love to hang out with my friends, golf, and go fishing in the summer. Every summer we take a fishing trip to Canada for a week with all my hockey friends and our dads. I also love to water ski and be at my friend's cabin on the lake.
