Why is this important to you?
Service has a special meaning to me because that is how I really began to grasp the bigger picture of being a Christian. Service encompasses a lot of small details that go a long way. Growing up, my brothers and I volunteered for various events our church needed help for such as funerals, baptisms, and outreach events. As an athlete, there are countless people supporting and helping me try to accomplish my goals, so it is nice to serve back and help others. A big step I learned on my walk with Christ is that the journey does not end once you have accepted Christ into your life, in fact that is the beginning. Service is also the biggest way to spread God’s word and show His love. Whether I serve random strangers or people I’ve known my whole life, it is a great way to show God’s love and care.
Have you been involved with FCA or FCA Hockey in the past? What has been your experience with us? How has FCA Hockey impacted you?
I have not been apart of FCA in the past and have did not know much about it prior to being contacted.
What is your favorite scripture verse? Why is this important to you?
Matthew 28:20 – “And surely I am with you always, even to the very end of the age."
As I look at my past, through all the good and bad, Christ has been at work through all of it. This verse has tremendous personally meaning to me that involves parts of my past that were rough to get through, and knowing God is “always with me” gives me the extra boost I need.
How did you hear about FCA Hockey?
I was nominated by my pastor from E-Free church in Sault Ste. Marie, MI, where I was then contacted by Mr. Randazzo to talk about the FCA.
What else should we know about you (future goals in hockey, family members, what church do you go to, favorite stuff outside of hockey, etc.)
Outside of hockey I am a huge magic fan. My junior year at Shattuck St. Mary’s I began to learn some street magic that use to trick my friends around school. I have continued magic throughout the years and love the idea of street magic, especially because it is a great ice breaker when meeting new people. On bus long bus trips I will try to entertain the boys with some street magic card tricks for a good laugh and show. I also grew up on a horse ranch in Minnesota and love horseback riding. Growing up on a farm has taught me a lot and has helped my walk with Christ in many ways.
