Jason Lammers - May Coach of the Month
Chosen Attribute (Teamwork, Excellence, Serving, and Integrity): Serving
Why is this attribute important to you?
Serving the needs of the players and helping them improve is my passion.
What is your favorite scripture verse? Why is this important to you?
Romans 12 – My wife and I chose Romans 12 to be our rock and the verse upon which we have built our marriage.
Who is your favorite coach outside of hockey? Why?
Phil Jackson because of his ability to manage elite athletes and help them work together using each others strengths.
What is your dream coaching job (if different than your current position)?
I am on God’s plan. We love uML and working for Coach Bazin.
Share a recent coaching highlight that you have had.
Watching one of our players embrace a younger player and grow him into an all-league player by the end of the year.
Tell us a little bit about your coaching philosophy. Why do you coach?
My coaching philosophy is to ignite and empower decision makers on and off the ice. My faith is the foundation of my coaching philosophy because I base everything around the fact that Jesus came to serve, not be served. This encourages me to serve our players and staff and helps me to find great joy, peace and love in the relationships that are formed while participating in an ultra-competitive occupation that encourages a win at all costs mentality. I have been blessed to work for many excellent coaches and they are all a part of how I coach. I can make an impact for Jesus at the rink by impacting others and how I treat them. For example, simply acknowledging players and letting them know that I care about them.
