Chosen Attribute: Serving
Why is this attribute important to you?
Serving - I think serving is a very important attribute and I try to serve God in everything that I do. Giving back is something that is central to me. I am quite fortunate and I believe that it is vital to give back to those less fortunate. Last year I went on a number of mission trips, small and large, but nothing like I am going to do this summer. I am heading out to the San Carlos reservation in Arizona to build homes for Apache Indians, at the same time spreading the Word of God. In the Bible, there are many references about serving God, but my favorite verse on this topic is 1 Peter 4:10 “Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms.” This verse, along with my favorite song “I Will Go” by Starfield, really pushes me to give back because I know that is what God wants me to do.
What is your favorite scripture verse?
Philippians 4:13: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
I really like this verse because it is a great feeling to know that you can do anything you want when you believe in God. My other favorite verse is Isaiah 30:21 “Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you saying, ‘this is the way; walk in it’." It is really comforting to know that God has a perfect plan for every one of us.
What else should we know about you?
In my free time, I enjoy playing golf and hanging out with my friends. I go to a small church group called Salt every Sunday night with a group of high school juniors. I have one younger brother named Colby, 15, and a younger sister, named Stephanie, 11. My goal is to play college hockey.
